November 2012 Prayer Calendar

Let’s be honest. There are mornings when getting up and getting with the program doesn’t feel like it’s part of the program at all! There are days my schedule is full but my “tank” is empty. We all experience those times when our lives seem to require just a bit more of us than we can give.

But it’s also true that God gives me a reminder of what it’s like to be eager — an emotion that is natural in childhood. He shows it to me as I drive past children walking to school, pulling their mothers behind them. I see it in children in the park calling out to their parents, “Look at me!” I even see it many mornings as I pass through the lobby of Compassion and see groups of local schoolchildren ready to tour our building. In their hands they hold handmade toys from our kids around the world — and in their minds they are already plotting how they will make their own playthings when they get home!

Poverty can smother the eagerness of children. The burdens of poverty slow a child’s feet, quiet his voice and dim her creativity. But when a child enters the Compassion program, that enthusiasm comes to life! Once they are set free their excitement returns, faster and louder and brighter than ever!

That eagerness is mirrored in our staff, who are passionate about serving children in poverty and giving them opportunities to grow and learn. That passion spreads to parents and families, who take a renewed interest in the health, growth and development of their children. It’s hard to be restrained around a child whose eagerness knows no limits!

This month, will you pray for children who have known the weight of poverty to feel the joy of freedom? Pray for energy for our staff and continued willingness in the parents of the children we serve. Your prayers are heard by God, who is eager to see His children thrive and grow. His passion for us is truly boundless!

“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him ...
