March 2013 Prayer Calendar

Please keep these children living in poverty in your prayers.

March 2013 Prayer Calendar

When was the last time a child gave you a gift? A dandelion picked on a walk, or a rock dug out of a little boy’s pocket? For many of you there is a drawing hung on your refrigerator right now, a piece of art with a scrawled signature in the corner.

Children give sacrificially. Those simple tokens are treasures in their eyes. And through the giving, they become treasures to us, the receivers. We can learn a lot from a child’s giving spirit. That it is not the size of the gift but the spirit in which it is given.

We can also learn about the gifts of the Father—who desires to give His children good and perfect gifts—by watching how a child gives. A child gives quietly, drawing no attention to herself. She gives the things that she loves most to the people she loves. And she gives extravagantly, abundantly and joyfully.

This month as you pray for the children Compassion serves, will you pray for joy in the giving? Will you pray that as children give love, they will receive friendship? That their gifts of smiles and hugs will be met with adoration? And when they give flowers and rocks and drawings, they will gain the knowledge that they are known, loved and protected? Pray that their lives will be filled with God’s good and perfect gifts.

Thank you, for the gift of your prayers. May you always know what a powerful gift they are.

Verse of the Month

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
