A native of Northern California, Dan went to LIFE Pacific College in Southern California, then toured three years with Jeremiah People, became a booking agent for Christian Artists Agency and continued to perform in regional musical theater where he met his wife of 27 years, Joy Lynn.
Throughout a twenty-year journey in worship ministry Dan resided mostly as the Worship Arts Pastor at Southwest Community Church in Indian Wells, CA where he produced multiple award winning shows working with such folks as David Foster, John Tesh and Josh Groban. While at Southwest he helped develop a progressive system of programming that is being used by churches around the world today.
It was during his time at Southwest he met a local triathlete diagnosed with terminal cancer. After conducting the memorial service to a packed room of triathletes and runners, Dan was welcomed into their community and a few years later competed in his first Ironman. Now eleven years later he has competed in over 45 triathlons, including 13 Ironman races, which have taken him to the World Championships in Kona, Hawaii twice. As a multiple and current USAT All-American, Dan competes at the highest level of the sport.
Along with sponsoring two children through Compassion International, Dan currently serves as the Executive Pastor at WestGate Church in San Jose, California, a partner with Compassion International. He also, helped form TEAM Compassion and has raised nearly $20,000 for the Medical Assistance Fund, a fund Compassion uses to provide treatment for extraordinary medical needs for children in poverty.
