Register Now to Volunteer at a Leadership Summit Location Near You
Compassion is excited to partner once again with the Willow Creek Association Global Leadership Summit. With almost 240 satellite locations throughout the country, we are still in need of volunteers to make this event a success! The dates of this year’s conference are Aug. 8-9. To sign up, go to www.compassion.com and log into “My Account” to volunteer at a location near you.
The Global Leadership Summit equips and engages Christ-centered leaders to establish and grow local churches and organizations. Play a key role as a child advocate during this exciting conference. You will be encouraged as a leader, as you aid in releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name. To find out more information about the Global Leadership Summit.

Read All About It: Sponsorship Works!
Independent research shows that children who participated in Compassion’s holistic child development through sponsorship programs stayed in school longer, were more likely to have salaried or white-collar employment, and were more likely to be leaders in their communities and churches than their peers who did not participate in our programs. Read the cover story about the impact of child sponsorship in the June edition of Christianity Today.
Electric Payment Best Option
Did you know it costs about .95 cents per transaction for the credit card option that sponsors select when selecting a payment option? That cost drops to .35 cents for debit card, but the best savings for Compassion is when a sponsor selects the electronic fund transfer option. The cost for an electronic payment is only .06 cents per transaction.
Leadership Development Update
The Leadership Development Program was instituted in 1996 in the Philippines to help students receive a university education and Christian leadership training and mentoring. Today the program has expanded to 19 countries, identifying promising young leaders in the Child Sponsorship Program who have the potential to influence their communities and countries for good. LDP serves young adults aged 17-25, and is currently raising up more than 3,200 strong leaders. Nicaragua will become the 20th LDP country in Fiscal Year 2014.
The program’s graduation rate is 83% (United Sates college graduation rate is 58%).
CSP Numbers of Note
Here are a few numbers that show some of the impact the Child Survival Program is having:
- 97 percent of all CSP births in the most recent quarter were at full-term (compared with the international average of 90 percent in developing countries, as noted in UNICEF’s State of the World’s Children 2012 report.)
- 92 percent of CSP newborns were in the normal weight range (compared with 76 percent in developing countries.)
- 84 percent of all CSP births were attended by a trained medical professional (compared with 69 percent in developing countries.)
