How Does Compassion Help?

Donations to the Compassion AIDS initiative are used to provide support to children infected by AIDS, living with the HIV virus, or who are living with parents or siblings who are HIV+ or infected by AIDS. Compassion uses your donations to provide:

  • Education that prevents the spread of HIV
  • Transportation to clinics for treatments
  • Treatment with antiretroviral therapy (ART)
  • Nutritional support for children who are infected with HIV
  • Education and medication for the Prevention of Mother-To-Child Transmission
  • Voluntary counseling and testing

Where Your Money Goes

84% Directly to Program
16% Raise Awareness

When you donate to a Critical Needs fund through Compassion, 84% of your donation goes directly to support children in the field. A small percentage goes to administrative costs that allow Compassion to continue to raise awareness of the critical needs of children around the world.

Together, We Are Making Progress!

  • 10,128 individuals have been assisted through the AIDS initiative in the past 12 months
  • 17,721 children and family members are currently receiving antiretroviral therapy
  • 696 pregnant mothers in the Child Survival program were tested for HIV in the past year
Everyday, we help children in places like Togo.

In Togo, more than 50% of the population lives without knowing if they are infected with HIV or AIDS. Many refuse testing due to fears stemming from the lack of an HIV/AIDS cure.

For this reason, Compassion’s partner churches in Togo joined together to educate their members about HIV/AIDS while providing free testing. With financial support provided by Compassion, 3,176 children and 7,700 adults were screened for HIV and AIDS.

In all, 224 residents tested positive for either HIV or AIDS. Three Compassion-supported children were among the infected. Currently, these children are being supported by this particular fund. While they continue to fight the disease through government provided ARV drugs, Compassion provides food, support and compassionate care.
