Prayer Calendar - Compassion International

When you join Compassion International's Prayer Partner Network, you will receive a monthly prayer calendar via e-mail at the end of each month.

The monthly prayer calendar will help you pray consistently for "the least of these." Please take a few minutes each day to pray for a child and commit the child's need to our loving Father.

A Message from Mark Hanlon

What makes you feel loved? Is it flowers or a card? Or maybe it’s a phone call or a coffee date. Regardless of the means, we all have a deep need to feel secure and cared about. God is love – so of course He created us for love! Both to receive it, and to give it.

But there are seasons in our lives when we don’t feel very lovable. When we feel too unworthy or broken to even know how to be loved. But the beautiful thing is, God never stops loving us. And He shows that love relentlessly – through His Word, His people, and most of all, through Jesus.

Many children in poverty don’t know how to escape those feelings of being unworthy of love. They have grown up believing that there is nothing better than their current lives. That nobody will ever love them because they don’t deserve it.

For the children Compassion serves, those lies are silenced. Tutors at the church-based child development center give hugs. Pastors pray and speak words of comfort. And sponsors write in their letters “I love you.” Gradually, the children believe in that love.

This month, will you pray for those beautiful children who haven’t quite reached that point of believing? Pray that each hug, each letter, each prayer will be another reminder of the simple truth that they are loved.

Thank you for your prayers on behalf of these children. And always remember – God is love. And He loves you too!

  • We praise God for twin sisters Theodora and Theodosia in Ghana who kept getting sick and had several hospital stays, and are now healed and growing well.
  • We praise God that 11-year-old Chance in Rwanda, who fractured his leg and hand, then discovered that he has a disease that makes his bones brittle, was discharged from hospital and is now home.
  • We praise God for the healing of a tutor and a center director in Nicaragua from recent urinary tract infections.
Alumni Story

I’m Gilbert Mfitundinda and I was born in Uganda. At 7 years old I got invited by my local church and community leaders to participate in Compassion’s child development program. For the first time in my life, I got a mattress to sleep on and a blanket to cover myself with.

I also got connected to a sponsor who loved me so much and would often send me letters and gifts. Every letter from my sponsor made me reflect on God’s love because of its powerful contents. I would often have a prayer of thanksgiving in appreciation to God for letting me have a friend so far away.

It was my sponsor’s love, combined with verses like John 3:16, which gave me a deep desire to show God’s love in all that I do. I am so thankful for that.

Will you show God’s love today? Perhaps you just have to be present for your family or friend at the point of need. You can give a call or have coffee with someone. I would also like to request that you pray for a child in extreme poverty who needs to know that God is love.
