Margaret Fen Chuan Wang Teng

Margaret Fen Chuan Wang Teng (鄧王芬娟) of Littleton passed away at Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center January 10, 2025, after a brief illness.

Fen Chuan was born on June 26, 1930, in Hankou (漢口) China, the youngest daughter of a dry goods merchant from Ninpo (寧波). She attended 懿训女中 (now Wuhan 21st high school) a prestigious all-girls missionary school founded in 1897 where she got her introduction to English. She married Chow Shi-Tai, a fighter-pilot, and gave birth to Charlie Chow in 1948. Shi-Tai died in air battle during Chinese civil war. She endured this turbulent time as a single parent raising a young son. She later met and married Ven Chao Teng in 1957 for a marriage lasting 62 years until his death in 2019. She travelled extensively and lived in several countries in her life. China, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong and the United States. She eventually settled in the United States where all her children and older sister lived.

Fen Chaun loves socializing with others but by nature a very private person. She's really happy when there are big family gatherings, enjoy playing mahjong and talking for hours with friends living in different states or countries on the phone. She loves to go to Chinese restaurants particularly favoring Shanghai style cuisine. She oftentimes finds new restaurants from the newspaper to try. Because of her outgoing nature, many of the restaurants’ managers knew her and recognized her as a VIP. She was generous and always wanted to treat the family when going out to eat. She was a stylish lady and had keen fashion senses. She even designed her clothes in her earlier days. She knew how to dress elegantly and sophisticatedly without spending a fortune.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior over 60 years ago and was baptized in Thailand after she experienced through a prayer that opened her eyes. Before her mental decline in the recent years, she consistently read Bible and devotional books every day and prayed for each of her family members every night. She attributed to the Lord for helping her through all her trials in life.

She is survived by her children, Charlie Chow and his wife Kwang-Pei of Naperville, IL, Steven and his wife Suzanne of Littleton MA, Louisa and her husband Michael Chan of Allen TX, grandchildren Dr. Jarva Chow Mascarenhas and her husband Andrew, Eva Chow and her husband Tony, Grace Teng, Luke Chan and great grandson Paxton Mascarenhas.
