Flooding in Sri Lanka

On May 26, 2017, torrential rains caused a massive flood in Sri Lanka. Many people have died, been injured and displaced by floods and mudslides. The rains have lessened and floodwaters are slowly residing, but high wind warnings remain in effect. Since the children we serve are so vulnerable and live in poorly constructed homes, floods like these can be devastating. Many of the children in our programs and several of our program centers and staff are affected. Compassion staff in Sri Lanka are working diligently to identify the families that are affected by the flood and provide necessary assistance.

“How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.” — Psalm 36:7

Pray that God will place His hand of protection over families that have been displaced by the flood in Sri Lanka. Pray for those who have had their homes damaged or destroyed; that they would see God's miraculous provision in their lives as they rebuild. Pray for our church partners and Compassion staff in Sri Lanka, that God give them strength and endurance as they care for the children and families that have been impacted by this disaster.

Please consider giving a tax-deductible donation to Disaster Relief.

Your donation will help provide Compassion-assisted children and their families with temporary shelter, food, water, medical care and other urgent necessities arising from the effects of the flood.

If additional money is raised beyond what is needed for this disaster, it will be used to help other Compassion-assisted children and families who become victims of a disaster.

Thank you for caring for the precious children of Sri Lanka.
