Disaster Alert: August 11, 2020

High wind speeds (up to 55-65 kmph) are occurring particularly in the North, North-Central and North West provinces of Sri Lanka. In some areas, there is also heavy rain, which combined with the strong winds is causing trees to fall, damage to homes, and roofs blown off throughout the region. Specific impact details are not yet available, as the CDCs are assessing damages to the beneficiaries and their homes. The affected families are temporarily living with neighbors or relatives.

The Child Development Centers (CDCs) have helped to clean out houses and provided polythene sheets to cover damaged roofs.

Please pray for safety and provision as the affected families and church partner recover from damages.
