Disaster Alert: September 3, 2019

Ilocos was placed under a state of emergency after Tropical Storm Ineng (Bailu) and the southwest monsoon brought heavy rains that caused massive flooding in the province. The estimated cost of damage to infrastructure and agriculture is in the millions. At this time, 58 beneficiaries and their families have been affected as well as four Child Development Centers (CDCs) in the area. The CDCs have provided relief goods to the affected beneficiaries and their families. Thankfully, there have been no reports of destroyed homes. The flooding has, however, caused loss of agricultural livelihoods. None of the beneficiaries or their families have been sent to evacuation centers.
