Final Report: August 21, 2019

The weather has improved, and the rainfall has gradually ceased in the affected provinces. A total of 54 beneficiaries were affected in two Child Development Centers (CDCs). Some of the affected beneficiaries and their families are staying with relatives while their homes are being repaired. Their immediate needs were met by the CDCs. Compassion Disaster Relief Funds are being used to repair the homes.

Thank you for your prayers for the safety of our beneficiaries and Child Development Centers in Sri Lanka.

Disaster Alert: August 6, 2019

Since late July, there has been significant amounts of rain throughout Sri Lanka, particularly in Sabaragamuwa, as well as the Western, Central and Southern provinces. Many homes have been damaged from the heavy rains and strong winds (e.g. falling trees, roofs being blown away). Roads have been flooded. So far, specific beneficiary and Child Development Centers (CDCs) impact details are not yet available. The CDCs have provided cooked food, ration packs and clean drinking water to the affected beneficiaries and their families and they expect to use Compassion Disaster Relief Funds for the repair of damaged homes.

Please pray for the safety of our beneficiaries and church partners throughout Sri Lanka.
