Disaster Alert & Final Report: February 4, 2019

On January 25, 2019, a dam broke at an iron ore mining complex in the eastern state of Minas Gerais. The collapse of the dam triggered mudslides that buried the surrounding area in waste from the iron ore mine (in some areas up to 26 ft.). So far 110 people have died and 238 are still missing. The recovery efforts to find bodies in the deep mud continues. Compassion Brazil's office and Child Development Centers (CDCs) are in the Northeast part of Brazil and are a long distance from the site of the disaster. Thankfully, no CDCs or beneficiaries were affected. Please pray for the families affected by this mining catastrophe and the subsequent mudslides.
