The Islands of San Andres and Providencia continue in their recovery efforts. The Child Development Centers (CDCs) provided support to the affected families. A total of 127 beneficiaries and their families were impacted. Thankfully, the storm did not have a severe impact on the part of the islands where the CDCs minister.

Update #1: December 3, 2020

The Islands of San Andres and Providence were the most affected with widespread damage, and the national government is providing resources for reconstruction. The city of Cartagena was most affected by flooding. The Child Development Centers have been supporting the affected families, and the Compassion Colombia National Office is utilizing disaster relief funds to provide drinkable water and sleeping mats. To date, 127 beneficiaries and their families have been impacted.

Disaster Alert: November 18, 2020

Hurricane Iota went through the Caribbean coast of Colombia, affecting the Island of Providencia and the San Andrés Archipelago. Hundreds of families were affected by damaged homes. It has also created heavy rains and flooding in the Atlántico, Bolivar area, as well as Cartágena and Barranquilla. So far, 28 beneficiaries have been affected. The Child Development Centers have provided food, hygiene kits and temporary shelter for affected families.
