Advisory: Heavy Rains in Zona Bananera, Colombia

The rains continue in the Banana Zone. In total, 43 beneficiaries were affected; however, the affected beneficiaries and their families are now stable. The Child Development Centers continue to provide spiritual support and groceries and several homes have been repaired.

Update #2: October 29, 2019

The rains continue in the Banana Zone. To date, 43 beneficiaries have been affected. The Child Development Centers are in regular contact with the affected beneficiaries. They have accessed Compassion Disaster Relief funds to repair homes and provide basic supplies. The church partner is providing spiritual support, as well as helping with local resources.

Please pray for the weather to improve and affected beneficiaries and families to be cared for well.

Update #1: October 14, 2019

Heavy rains continue in La Zona Bananera, Colombia. The Child Development Centers continue to visit affected beneficiaries and their families to assess the impact and their needs. They have provided groceries with local resources. The Colombia National Office is working on a construction plan to repair the damaged homes.

Please pray for the beneficiaries, families and church partners, as the heavy rains continue which can bring more damage.

Disaster Alert: October 9, 2019

In early October, the river Rio Frio, in the Northern part of Colombia, overflowed due to heavy rains and flooding. The flooding damaged homes in La Zona Bananera, Magdalena. So far, 38 beneficiaries have been affected. The Child Development Centers have visited the affected beneficiaries and provided food, as well as emotional and spiritual support.
