Advisory: Heavy Rains in Ica Province, Peru

The rains have decreased in the Ica Province. In total, 99 beneficiaries were affected. The Child Development Centers continue to support the affected beneficiaries and their families.

Update #1: February 10, 2020

The rains in the Ica Province have decreased in intensity. So far, 88 beneficiaries have been affected. The Child Development Centers are supporting the affected families using Compassion Disaster Relief funds. The Compassion Peru National Office expects to use Crisis Intervention funds to address the repair and rebuilding of homes.

Disaster Alert: February 5, 2020

Heavy rains have been occurring in the Southern regions of Peru since January 21st. Ica is one of several affected provinces with many damaged homes. The local municipalities are providing humanitarian aid such as plastics and tents to affected families and are cleaning roads that were overflowed with water. So far, 23 beneficiaries have been affected. The church partners are evaluating the impact to beneficiaries and using the Compassion Disaster Relief Fund to provide food, water, mattresses, beds and clothing for affected families. The Compassion Peru National Office may also utilize Crisis Intervention funds to help with the repair of damaged homes.
