Final Report: May 30, 2019
Government authorities continue to monitor the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). The weather alert level continues to allow local resources to mobilize quickly. Additionally, the government has given special instructions to schools to stay informed and alert of changing weather conditions. Thankfully, amidst flooding and damage to roads, no Child Development Centers or beneficiaries have been affected.
Please continue to pray for the safety of our beneficiaries in El Salvador.
Update #1: May 29, 2019
As of this date, heavy rains are affecting a wider area and high tides are expected at the coastline. Schools located in the coastal area are preparing to move families quickly, if needed.
So far, we do not have any affected Child Development Centers (CDCs) or beneficiaries. The Compassion El Salvador National Office and the CDCs are continuing to monitor the weather conditions.

Disaster Alert: May 27, 2019
El Salvador’s central and eastern areas are currently experiencing heavy rains, thunderstorms and mudslides. They are calling the weather the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). San Miguel city is flooded. The Compassion El Salvador National Office, Partnership Facilitators, and the Child Development Centers (CDCs) are monitoring the situation closely. Thankfully, as of this date, no beneficiaries or CDCs are affected.
