Update #1: March 13, 2020
So far, 106 beneficiaries have been affected. All affected beneficiaries and their families have been supported with food, clothing, household items, temporary shelters and/or some materials for home repair. Families in damaged rental homes were supported with short term rental fees in other homes. The Compassion Tanzania National Office may utilize Crisis Intervention funds for the construction to replace destroyed homes.
Crops that were damaged are not restored yet, as the fields need to be re-planted in the next growing season. Some of the families may encounter food insecurity until the new crops are harvested, so they should receive food relief at that time.
Please pray for the affected beneficiaries and their families as they recover from all damages and losses.
Disaster Alert: February 12, 2020
In early February, heavy rains have affected a large number of families in the Bahi District of the Dodoma region, in Tanzania. The rains have destroyed farms and most homes are submerged in water. Beneficiary impact details are not available yet.
The Project Facilitator has visited the area and provided support to the Child Development Centers. All impacted families are temporarily living with neighbors and friends. The families are in need of food, bedding, and temporary shelters until their homes can be repaired or re-constructed.
Please pray for the affected beneficiaries and families as they recover from the damages and losses.
