The rainfall has stopped, and flooding has ceased. In total, 50 participants and their families were affected. The Child Development Centers (CDCs) provided impacted families with food, building materials, beds, stoves, gas tanks, hygiene kits, clothing, and household items.

Update #3: February 11, 2022

The rainfall has significantly decreased, and flooding is no longer an issue. To date, 50 participants and their families are reported as affected. Most families have damaged homes and household items. The Child Development Centers (CDCs) have provided impacted families with food, building materials, beds, stoves, gas tanks, hygiene kits, clothing, and household items. The Compassion Dominican Republic National Office will continue to report updates as they become available.

Update #2: February 9, 2022

The Child Development Centers (CDCs) continue to provide support to impacted families. To date, 48 participants and their families are reported as affected. CDCs are using Disaster Relief funds to provide families with food, bedding, household items, and building materials to repair homes. The Compassion Dominican Republic National Office will continue to monitor the situation and report updates as they become available.

Update #1: February 4, 2022

The Child Development Centers (CDCs) continue to assess impact, and so far, 47 participants and their families are reported as affected. Thankfully, no participants or their family members were injured in the storm. The CDCs are providing food and bedding to affected families. Compassion Disaster Relief funds will be used to provide material to repair houses and meet immediate needs.

Disaster Alert: February 2, 2022

In late January, heavy rain caused flooding in the province of Monetcristi that impacted the town of Villa Vasquez. The Child Development Centers in the area are assessing impact to participants and their families and providing immediate relief for most urgent needs. So far, 15 participants and their families are reported as affected.
