Disaster Alert: February 3, 2020

In late January, heavy rains and flooding affected regions on the Eastern coast of Tanzania, in the regions of Lindi and Dar es Salaam. Mburahati, which is in the Dar es Salaam area has been affected.

So far, one Child Development Center (CDC) and 40 beneficiaries have been identified as affected; the impact assessment is still in process. Families have lost food, household items (beds and bedding), as well as other household items. The CDC staff and community leaders are working to support the impacted families with temporary shelters. Most of the families are living in rented houses, so the focus is currently on providing emergency relief. The CDC has suspended programming as the church buildings are submerged in water.

Please pray for the affected families and church partner as they recover from damages and losses due to the flooding.
