Thankfully, the heavy rains have ended, and there is no more flooding in Gambela Town, Ethiopia. A total of 111 beneficiaries and their families were impacted. They received support through the disaster relief fund.

Update #1: September 28, 2020

The Child Development Centers and Compassion Ethiopia National Office staff continue to assess impact and provide support to families, as needed. To date, 40 beneficiaries and their families have been affected.

Disaster Alert: September 24, 2020

Heavy rainfall caused the Baro River to overflow and flood the town of Gambela in western Ethiopia. The flooding damaged many homes and destroyed livelihoods. A list of affected beneficiaries is not yet available. The Child Development Centers are assessing the impact to beneficiaries and identifying how the affected families can best be supported.
