Local agencies have provided relief assistance to affected families. In addition, disaster relief funds have been utilized to support the beneficiaries and their families, as needed.

Update #1: November 17, 2020
The families affected by this fire lost everything except the clothes they were wearing when they fled their homes in the early hours of the morning. They used plastic and bamboo to create temporary shelters. No additional families have been reported as affected. The Compassion Bangladesh National Office staff are preparing to send disaster relief funds to support the families with food, bedding, clothing, cooking utensils, and home building supplies.

Disaster Alert: November 16, 2020
A fire destroyed the Gilalata Church buildings and adjacent homes. Thankfully, nearby residents were evacuated, and there were no injuries. So far, a total of 10 beneficiaries and their families are reported as affected with the loss of their homes and all their household and personal items. The Child Development Center (CDC) supported impacted families with food and shelter. In addition, they received food and blankets, as well as some financial aid, from the local government and a local donor. The Compassion Bangladesh National Office staff is in regular contact with the CDC to determine the best way to support the families.
