Disaster Alert: May 31 2019
On Thursday, May 30, 2019, at 3:03 a.m., a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the central part of El Salvador. The government has been monitoring the situation and has issued a tsunami alert for coastal areas. The National Civil Protection Agency reports damage to multiple homes, four hospitals, and one university. So far, 15 beneficiaries and one Child Development Center (CDC) have been affected. The local CDCs are providing emergency assistance for beneficiaries and the Partner Facilitators are monitoring conditions after the subsequent aftershocks.
Please pray for the aftershocks to cease, and for the safety of the CDC staff as they work diligently to assess the situation. Also pray for the families of the beneficiaries as they recover from the earthquake.
