The situation in Sarong has stabilized and daily life has returned to normal. Seven Child Development Centers were temporarily closed but reopened on August 26. Thankfully, no beneficiaries were affected during the demonstrations.

Disaster Alert: August 21, 2019

Demonstrations took place in Sarong City and the surrounding areas in Papua and West Papua, Indonesia. There are nine Child Development Centers (CDC) in the Sarong area. Seven of those CDCs postponed activities during the unrest. Compassion East Indonesia National Office and CDC staff are monitoring the situation through social media and television.
