Disaster Alert: November 27, 2019

On November 10, Cyclone Bulbul hit the southern part of Bangladesh. Strong winds resulted in widespread injuries and sadly a number of deaths (not Compassion related) caused by falling trees. Thankfully, the initial force of the cyclone was absorbed by the world’s largest mangrove forest, the Sundarban. Prior to the storm, the local government conducted awareness training and evacuation operations, limiting damage. So far, three Child Development Centers (CDCS) and 67 beneficiaries have been affected. The local government has provided food, water, medicine, and shelter to affected families. The CDCs are monitoring and accessing the damage and have sent their initial needs to the Compassion National Office

Please pray for the safety of our beneficiaries in this area and for the affected families and CDCs as they recover from damages and losses.
