Words of Kindness

Proverbs 16:24 says, “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Yes, words of kindness are sweet and we all like to receive them. Whether from our boss at work or a word of appreciation from a friend, words of kindness lift up the soul.

As parents, our kids imitate us. We often think, “I shouldn’t have said that” or “Wow, my tone sounded very angry.” Today, let’s intentionally say kind words to our kids and see how they react.

This simple change has the potential to make a life-changing difference. As kids hear kind words, they feel appreciated and loved. Then they can turn around and share kind words with others, including you!

Words of Kindness

Aiden quickly learned that words of kindness can build a bridge, no matter what the age of the person. He works at his local VA Medical Center and has quickly become the favorite volunteer.

As a parent, we can share words of kindness with our kids, who will then share them with others. Try out these phrases:

  • You are kind.
  • You make me smile.
  • You matter to me.
  • I’m glad you are part of my life.
  • I believe in you.
  • You are valuable.
  • You have good ideas.
  • I like to talk to you.
  • I love you.
  • I’m proud of you.

Our words to our children are powerful. They crave our words of kindness. We can give them kindness to imitate!
