Willie Myrick - Wise Beyond His Years

As a kid, Willie Myrick serves as a great example of how to worship God through extraordinary circumstances. It reminds us of the account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They defied the mighty King Nebuchadnezzar and were thrown into the fiery furnace. Instead of bowing down to the golden statue, they said, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up" (Daniel 3:15-18).

Like Willie Myrick, they had faith to believe that God would deliver them. They relied on the One who could deliver them from evil.

We can be assured that God is able to deliver us. We may not always understand the reason for the trial, but we can be assured that God is with us through it.

We sing with Willie Myrick, "Every praise is to our God!"

Willie Myrick - Wise Beyond His Years

Willie Myrick was only 10 years old when he was kidnapped from his front yard. You might be surprised by how he reacted to the ordeal. Let's watch...

Willie Myrick persuaded his kidnapper to release him by singing praise to his God and protector. The lyrics that Willie Myrick sang over and over were written by Hezekiah Walker and John David Bratton. The lyrics repeatedly proclaim praise to God:

Every praise is to our God
Every word of worship with one accord.
Every praise, every praise is to our God.
Sing hallelujah to our God.
Every praise, every praise is to our God.

Willie Myrick is a great example to us of how God can take our focus off the situation and put it on our powerful God. Singing and worshipping God is a great way to center on Him!
