Reaching More Children in New Countries
Your faithful support this past year is empowering Compassion to expand our ministry and reach more children in poverty, beginning with Malawi and continuing into Zambia, Cambodia and Myanmar.
In Malawi, more than 1,500 newly registered children are now receiving loving care, guidance and support from 17 local churches who have partnered with Compassion — and we can’t wait to add even more.

From Sponsored Child to Child Rescuer
As a child, Doreen lived in poverty in Uganda. Then at age 8, she was sponsored in Compassion’s program, which gave her the chance to finish her education. The program helped support her and her family.
After graduating from Compassion and going to college, Doreen wanted to serve God by caring for abused girls in her community. So she started an organization that saves girls from sex trafficking and abuse.
So far this year, her organization has rescued 71 girls and plans to save many more.

Dreaming Big in Thailand
Thidaporn is facing a mountain of challenges to get into medical school. The 18-year-old girl has grown up in poverty, and her family doesn’t have any way to cover her future tuition. Her only hope is to receive a scholarship, but scholarships are only given to the top five exam scorers in the country.
At times this year, studying has been so hard that she says she wants to quit. But her sponsor’s encouraging words, “I’m so incredibly proud of you!” keep her going.
A caring, encouraging word from a sponsor doesn’t require much, but it can be just what a sponsored child needs to hear.

Reaching more children in the Name of Jesus
We’re expanding into new countries and in regions where we are needed most.
In just the countries we currently serve, over 170 million more children in desperate poverty need help. So we’re strategically planning to open new centers in rural areas where the need is greatest.
In the next two years, we plan to open more than 600 new centers in local churches across Africa, Asia and Latin America, and we aim to register 250,000 new children at both new and existing centers.
As a ministry, we feel called to step into the gap by connecting children who desperately need help and care with Christ followers who have the resources to help.

Financial Integrity
Compassion's total revenues grew 3.9% over the past year. Compassion supporters helped us grow to serve nearly 2.3 million children across more than 8,600 frontline church partners (as of June 2023).
