Dear God. . .Is Jesus Brazilian? Where was He born?
What a great question, Jessiene! Jesus was born in Bethlehem and grew up in a place called Nazareth — a village of mostly poor farmers. This is Wess Stafford, President of Compassion International. Archeological diggings indicate that ancient Nazareth was an insignificant village with probably only a few dozen families. And yet God chose it as the place where His Son would grow up. Jesus knew what it was like to have nothing of this world's goods. Is it any wonder He so understood the needs of those living in poverty? He never forgot where He came from.
