Explain why you chose your course of study: I like this career and everything related to computer science. Since junior high I knew what I wanted to study at the university, because my main interest has always been to learn about information technology and computers.
How did you come to accept Christ as your personal Savior? Because of God's grace, I was born covered by the warmth of a Christian home. I accepted Christ when I was 8 years old, after a meeting that took place at my house. They talked about God and His love and I just wanted to feel that love. I was baptized at the age of 12 to fulfill one of God's commandments, according to Matthew 28:19. And that decision filled my heart with great joy.
Who has had the most influence on your life and why? My parents are the engine that pushes me forward and encourages me to keep on studying and improving my academic skills. All the effort that they make for me in life isn't in vain.
How has God used Compassion to form who you are today? Through Compassion, God has taught me about God's love for us, because He let His own Son die on the cross to save us. The project made the biggest impact over my spiritual life, and that's why I'm deeply grateful to God for making me part of the Compassion program. Every Friday, the tutors prepared a different Bible study for all of us, and I believe it was really good.
What was your family life like? I live surrounded by the warmth of a Christian family and I'm thankful to God for it. My father works at a church as pastor and my mom is president of the ladies' group. Since I was a little child, they instilled good values in me and they taught me very precious things that have helped me a lot and will be very useful in the future. My dad receives a salary from the church and my mom takes care of the plants and animals that we have at home, and that generates an extra income for the family. The names and ages of my siblings are Priscila (17), Abigail (14), Sara (13) and Joel (11).
Describe the environment where you grew up: The community where I live is 2,830 meters [about 9,285 feet] above sea level, so the weather is very cold here, but we are used to it. The landscapes are full of mountains and animals. Here, most people do activities related to agriculture and animal breeding. I study inside the house when the weather is too cold, or at the terrace or the backyard when it gets warmer.
What are some of your favorite activities? In my free time I enjoy playing the guitar, playing soccer or volleyball, and singing.
How are you currently serving in your local church or community? At church I work with the youth group. I always motivate them and encourage them to keep on attending the meetings, and I'm also in charge of teaching the Word of God to the new members of the group.
Tell us some of your strengths or special achievements: My strengths are my honesty, sincerity, self-confidence and companionship. My special achievements are that I was the standard bearer at elementary school and I was chosen as the best student of the AWANA [Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed] Clubs program.
How do you hope to use your future career and leadership skills to be a servant leader and help your community, church and country? In the future I could use my career to help people to solve their technology-related problems and I could also teach young people from my community how to use computers and how to work with them. I will offer tech support at very affordable prices. I want to give people solutions for their problems with their computers and their souls by sharing the good news of the eternal salvation that only Christ can give to us all.
Tell us about your goals for next year.
