What does a child visit look like?
Your visit experience will vary depending on the country and culture you visit. Compassion can arrange for you to visit your child's home and student center, to meet at our office in the country you are visiting, or to meet in a convenient and memorable location depending on your travel plans and the location of your child's home. Here are some helpful details about your visit:
- Visits usually last between two and six hours.
- You will enjoy the opportunity to play and interact with your child personally.
- You may meet your child at his or her home and student center (subject to safety and feasibility of arrangements), or spend the day with your child in the park, museum, zoo or other memorable location.
- Visits are typically arranged during a weekday when student center and office staff will be available.
- A Compassion representative will be present and help facilitate your visit.
- If needed, a translator can be available to you.
Why is the visit hosted by a Compassion representative?
Compassion's Child Protection Policy requires that a Compassion representative be present during every sponsor and child visit. Additionally, Compassion representatives serve to:
- Add value to your visit, providing helpful information and cultural context for your experience.
- Act as a cultural bridge in facilitating meaningful communication between you and your child.
- Explain and answer any Compassion-related questions.
