Through the eyes of a child, Peru is where laughter and joy are found among friends and family. Their warm culture and hospitality become part their day-to-day interaction with each other. You can see in their eyes and their smiles, regardless of background, they embrace each other's hurts and joy.
In spite of their difficult circumstances, sponsored children in Peru find refuge in the safety of their family and the church that they are part of through Compassion. Knowing that they are uniquely formed and created by God for His purpose, there is hope and abundance of blessings. Parents in the Child Survival Program are taught how to take care of their children and themselves, while the older children in the child sponsorship program attend child development centers where Compassion will show you in person how our holistic development program works. With your sponsorship, these children and families are helped through Compassion.
Through God's eyes, the Peruvians are loved by Him. Not a single child is neglected by Him, but rather drawn closer to Him. Through your participation in this ministry, He brings people together to encourage and bless one another. During such a time as this, you are chosen to bring glory to His name and He has entrusted you the life of a child to show love, courage and blessings to them.
Come and see Peru through your own eyes. Sign up for the Peru Sponsor Tour today!
Days 1-3: Our Journey Begins
Our group will be meeting at Miami International Airport, our U.S. gateway city, for a quick introduction before we start our journey to Peru, South America. The first few days will be an orientation into Compassion and Peruvian culture. We will visit the Compassion Peru country office and meet the leadership of the ministry there. We will also be joining our brothers and sisters in attending a Sunday worship service at one of Compassion's child development centers.
Days 4-5: Lima
As we begin to understand the culture, we will be visiting several child development centers in Lima to see what Compassion is doing. We will have the opportunity to explore and learn about each Compassion program offering in the various centers we visit. There will opportunities to ask about how each program works and how each impacts the children that we are working with. You will also better understand how your sponsorship money contributes to the development of these children in poverty.
Day 6: Fun Day
This is the day that you will have the opportunity to meet with your sponsored child. It is one of the most exciting days in the trip -- the day when a sponsor and a child get to see each other face to face.
Days 7-8: Chiclayo
We will be flying north to the city of Chiclayo, where Compassion works in another part of the country. Here you will have the opportunity to meet and work with the children in the local child development centers. Our group will learn how diverse the Peruvian people are and how Compassion works among these people groups. We will see how different the emphasis on family values is for centers in the cities compared with those in the rural areas.
