Tour Description

Kenya is a spectacularly beautiful land of contrasts ranging from balmy beaches to the snow-capped peaks of Mt. Kenya to the wild and vast deserts of the north. With the incredible variety of wildlife, it's definitely a safari capital. But beyond that there's Compassion with a full spectrum of its programs operating here. When you join our sponsor tour in March you will experience firsthand how each of those are implemented, visit our country office, share in a service project, and, best of all, spend a fun day with your sponsored child. No Kenya trip is complete without a short safari as we enjoy what God has given us.

Itinerary

Days 1-2: Welcome to Kenya

Saturday and Sunday, March 21-22: It's time to meet in New York's JFK Airport to start our Kenya tour! After an overnight KLM flight through Amsterdam we finally arrive in Nairobi. We immediately transfer to our hotel and settle in for the next week.

Days 3-6: Learning About Compassion

Monday through Thursday, March 23-26: We have a day to spend focusing on each of Compassion's core programs: Complementary Interventions, the Child Survival Program, the Child Sponsorship Program, and the Leadership Development Program.

Day 7: The Reason We Came!

Friday, March 27: It's our big day and what a fun time we'll have with our sponsored children. The day will be filled with games, lots of smiles and laughter, hugs and photos, and time to build relationships to last forever.

Day 8: Student Center Activities

Saturday, March 28: Today we visit another student center while in full operation and discover we still have so much to learn. Besides handcrafts, sports, and serving lunch to the children, we've included home visits so you can get a glimpse of daily life in Kenya. There's also time to shop for souvenirs on our way back to the hotel.

Day 9: Worshipping Together

Sunday, March 29: This morning we join our brothers and sisters at a partner church that oversees one of our student centers. What a joyous time as we praise and worship Kenyan style!

Days 10 and 11: Tourist Activities

Monday and Tuesday, March 30 - 31: Our flight to the Masai Mara provides some of the most amazing scenery. During our safari rides the cameras are flashing as we quietly "ooh" and "aah" over our animal sightings. Returning to our hotel in Nairobi we enjoy a farewell dinner and prepare for our transition home.

Days 12 and 13: Office Visit and Traveling Back Home

Wednesday and Thursday, April 1 - 2: This morning we visit the Compassion Kenya office. Spending time with the men and women who are so influential in ministering to our children gives us opportunity to share exactly what these days have meant to us. Our night flight again takes us through Amsterdam before arriving back in New York in time for our connecting flights. Kenya has touched our hearts and we return as advocates for children.
