Due to the high demand of sponsors who wish to meet the children they sponsor, two separate tours have been planned. This is the second of those tours.
Have you wondered how your monthly sponsorship really affects a child and if that affect is sustainable over time? Do you wonder if the letters you write mean anything and for that matter if you really matter to the child pictured in the photo on your refrigerator? A sponsor tour to Honduras will answer these questions and many more. Nothing can prepare you for that moment when your eyes meet the child you sponsor for the first time or that final hug that requires no translation. In that moment you will say, it was worth every penny and every inconvenience – I am changed.
Our adventure will take us to see several child development centers like the one your child attends. We'll venture deeper into the heart of the community, the home, where you will experience the richest expression of this culture – the family. As a ministry team, we will work together to not just observe this culture but to dive in and get our hands dirty through hands-on mission elements and face-to-face ministry among the children. Amid the various ministry elements you will be immersed in the unique culture that is Honduras, learn how conditions of poverty affect children, and how your ministry is not only changing a child but transforming families, churches, communities and even the entire nation.
Due to our visit to two cities, this tour will likely attract many sponsors, so don't delay – sign up today!
Day 1: Our Journey Begins
This journey begins with a brief orientation to help us get to know each other and prepare ourselves for this unique experience. We arrive in San Pedro Sula late in the evening to get a good night of rest and prepare for the life-changing week ahead.
Day 2-4: Expand Your Horizons
We will spend our first two days in-country visiting two specific Compassion-assisted child development centers near San Pedro Sula. We will visit HO-327 and HO-328 where we will mix hands-on service and ministry with Compassion children with home visits and other culturally rich experiences.
Days 5: Transition to Tegucigalpa and Vacation Bible School
On our way to Tegucigalpa we will visit a Compassion-assisted student center where we will serve together to provide a half-day vacation Bible school program for the children of this center. Afterward, we will continue our journey to Tegucigalpa. Tonight we will meet some truly remarkable young people who have graduated from the Child Sponsorship Program and some who are pioneer participants in the Leadership Development Program in Honduras.
Day 6: Connect With the Child You Sponsor
You'll spend a very special day filled with laughter, hugs, stories and fun with the incredible child or children you sponsor. The Compassion staff has planned a day that you and your sponsored child will never forget. This is what you've waited for, so treasure every moment!
Days 7-8: Bringing the Tour to a Close
The day will begin with a visit to the Honduras country office, where you will have opportunity to learn how your ministry of Compassion works. This afternoon we will have time for shopping and a little sightseeing as we wrap up our exciting visit.
