We praise God for the third anniversary of our office in eastern Indonesia. The leadership is especially thankful for the office staff, church partners and child development center staff!

Thursday 2
Pray for the people of the Dominican Republic where precious crops such as banana trees, corn, yucca and others were severely damaged by Tropical Storms Fay and Hanna and Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.  

Friday 3
Pray for Barkha Kujur, 6, and her family, who must rebuild their home after it was destroyed by elephants in eastern India.

Saturday 4
Pray that the parents of 17-year-old Peruvian Jorge A Ahuanlla Maravi will allow him to get his birth certificate so he can be registered for university.

WEEK 2
Sunday 5 
Pray that Compassion's partner churches in Uganda will continue to find ways to minister to AIDS orphans and their families.

Monday 6 
Pray for the family and friends of Kasim Maliamung, a 5-year-old Ugandan boy who died in June of malaria.

Tuesday 7  
Pray for Debendra Khilo and Balaram Bisoi, staff members at the Mukti Malaya Sishu Bikash Kendra Student Center in eastern India, who are suffering from chest pain.

Wednesday 8 
Pray for safety and shelter for those children and their families who have lost their homes during the rainy season in Burkina Faso.

Thursday 9
Pray for a sponsored 7-year-old eastern Indonesian girl who was raped and needs physical and emotional healing.

Friday 10
Please pray for those in Haiti who have lost homes and possessions due to Tropical Storms Fay and Hanna and Hurricane Gustav and Ike. Homes of children from at least 45 child development centers were damaged or destroyed.

Saturday 11 
Pray for Indian boy Anandhu Surendran, 8, who had surgery to repair a hole inside his ear. Pray for comfort and rapid healing.

WEEK 3
Sunday 12
Pray for healing of Francise Burg's father and Erneso Danda's mother, both of whom were among several Haitians injured in a bus accident. And please pray for another sponsored child whose sister died in the accident.

Monday 13
Continue to pray for children of Tanzania who have lost their parents or guardians to AIDS.                                        

Tuesday 14
Pray for the children and families affected by the Mindanao conflict between Muslim separatists and military groups in the Philippines. Thousands of people have been displaced by recent fighting.

Wednesday 15 
Pray for the mother of 7-year-old Peruvian boy Luis Brajhan Ramos Aguirre, who had a miscarriage and needs physical and emotional healing.

Thursday 16 
Pray that the Lord will help provide highly vulnerable children in Ethiopia with food, guidance and protection, especially during the global food crisis.

Friday 17   
Pray for the families of 50 Indian children at the CPS Child Development Center in Allahabad who have lost their houses due to a court-ordered demolition.

Saturday 18
Pray for committed partners and the start of new child development centers in eastern and northern Bangladesh. 

WEEK 4
Sunday 19  
Pray for the government of Haiti to enact effective and swift measures to address the famine and economic crisis gripping the nation.

Monday 20                                
Pray for the pastors, staff and especially the children of the Kalam Hidup and Air Hidup student centers in eastern Indonesia, which are being closed.

Tuesday 21   
We praise God that a new bridge was built across a dangerous river in eastern India, making it easier and safer for children to reach the Kalbari Shishu Bikash Kendra Student Center.

Wednesday 22
Pray for 7-year-old Honeyleen Pezzaro, the sister of a sponsored child in the Philippines, who was abducted.                       

Thursday 23
Pray for the Compassion El Salvador building project — that costs will stay low and the quality of the work will be excellent. Pray also for the safety of the workers.

Friday 24
Continue to pray that children in Ethiopia will be rescued from child labor and will be able to enroll in school through the help of Compassion.

Saturday 25
Please pray for all of the children around the world who are suffering from the global food crisis. Pray for provision and wise governmental decisions.

WEEK 5
Sunday 26  
Continue to pray that the government of Honduras will become more involved in the food crisis and develop better coping strategies.

Monday 27  
Pray for the thousands of children in Thailand who are being affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Pray especially for those homes broken by this devastating disease.

Tuesday 28
Pray for the child development centers in Peru that are struggling to buy healthful food for the children because their budgets have been stretched due to high food prices.

Wednesday 29   
Pray for east Indian girl Shanti Malto, 6, who was diagnosed with tuberculosis. Doctors have given up hope.

Thursday 30
Pray for the health and well-being of the Compassion children and families in Uganda as they recover from injuries and rebuild homes damaged by the recent heavy rains.

Friday 31  
Pray for the family and friends of Bharat Kumar, an 8-year-old boy in India who died in August of a severe infection.
