Advisory: Tropical Storm Fay Hits the Dominican Republic

UPDATE: Sept. 4, 2008 - Heavy rains from Tropical Storm Fay damaged the homes or possessions of five Compassion-assisted children from the Student Center Rios de Agua Viva (DR-801).

Please pray for the families who lost homes or possessions.

Please continue to pray for the Dominican Republic throughout this hurricane season as three tropical storms have already hit the country.

Compassion Dominican Republic will keep us updated as more information is available.

Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.

Aug. 19, 2008 - Tropical Storm Fay hit the Dominican Republic.

• The storm killed four people and damaged crops including banana trees, corn, yucca and other food trees.
• Two Compassion child development centers (DR-240 and DR-580) were damaged by flooding. Furniture, equipment and computers were among the items damaged.
• The home of a tutor and a project director were flooded.

Thankfully no Compassion-assisted children have been affected.

Please pray for the staff who lost homes and possessions in the flooding.
