Advisory: Hurricane Gustav Hits Haiti

UPDATE: Sept. 2, 2008 –Nine Compassion child development centers have children whose homes have been damaged or destroyed since Hurricane Gustav hit the southern region of Haiti.

At this time, Haitian staff are unable to travel to any centers in the affected areas because roads have been severely damaged.

Please pray for the children and families who have lost their homes and for the safety of the Compassion staff as they work to gather information and updates.

Please pray for the country as it braces for a third storm, Hanna, and while it continues to recover from Tropical Storm Fay.

Compassion Haiti will keep us updated as more information is available.

Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.

Aug. 29, 2008 - Hurricane Gustav hit Haiti, 100 miles south of Port-au-Prince, with winds up to 74 mph.

At this time no Compassion-assisted children or their families have been affected.
