Advisory: Heavy Rains in Eastern India

UPDATE: July 1, 2008- The heavy rains that flooded parts of eastern India recently stopped and the floodwaters have receded. All Compassion-assisted children and their families returned to their homes.

Praise God that no one was injured and the rains have subsided.

Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.

UPDATE: June 27, 2008- Heavy rains and flash floods in eastern India have affected Mawa Child Development Center (EI-151) and Kakdwip Child Development Center (EI-106). Nearly 200 homes of Compassion-assisted families have been damaged. The affected children and families evacuated safely and are currently living in shelters.

Both child development centers are continuing their activities and center staff continue to assess the children's situations regularly.

Please pray for children and families affected by the rains and flooding.

Compassion India will provide updates as information becomes available.
