Advisory: Earthquake in Honduras

UPDATE: October 28, 2009 – The earthquake that struck Roatan this past summer affected some Compassion-assisted children and their families, damaging their homes.

All those affected have since returned to their homes and the situation is under control.

Please continue to pray for the Lord's peace to be with those who were affected by the earthquake. Pray for His provision for those whose things were lost or damaged.

Compassion Honduras will keep us updated as more information is available.

Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.

UPDATE: June 2, 2009 - The earthquake that struck Roatan Island near the north coast of Honduras last week caused minor damage to buildings and homes.

The homes of seven Compassion-assisted families were slightly damaged.

May 29, 2009 - Recently a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit 39 miles northeast of Roatan, a small island off the northeast coast of Honduras.

Tremors were felt in many cities throughout the country and, so far, one death has been reported.

No Compassion-assisted children or child development centers or were affected by the earthquake.
