Advisory: Bubonic Plague in Ecuador
Print  Send this to a friend

As a preventive measure, Ecuador's Chimborazo Province has been declared in a state of emergency due to a recent outbreak of bubonic plague. The Public Health Ministry is testing fleas in the area and has quarantined Guamote Canton and specifically the indigenous community of Laime San Carlos.

Inoculations have been given to all children, staff and families in Nueva Vida Student Center (EC-449). Homes were fumigated, and children attending program activities continue to be closely observed for any symptoms of the disease.

Please pray for the Compassion staff, children and families in Chimborazo Province.

Compassion Ecuador will provide updates as information becomes available.

Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.
