Heavy rain in parts of Uganda has led to flooding, causing a newly opened Compassion-assisted project to temporarily shut down. Staff workers with Compassion Uganda say UG-422 (Kalerwe Child Development Center) in the capital city of Kampala closed its doors on Saturday, August 4, after floodwaters rose to the center's window sills.
While there are no reports of any injuries, deaths or other cases of major destruction, staff are concerned the flooding could lead to the spread of waterborne diseases such as cholera.
Please pray for the Compassion Uganda staff, church partner workers, Compassion-assisted children, their family members and all those affected by the heavy rain, that they may feel God's love and peace during this challenging time.
Compassion Uganda will provide an update as information becomes available.
Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.
