UPDATE: December 20, 2007 - Travel restrictions to Uganda have been lifted. The government reports that only one person tested positive for Ebola. All Compassion staff, children and families are safe as the outbreak is now under control.
UPDATE: December 13, 2007 - The Uganda Ministry of Health has confirmed the Ebola virus is confined to the site of the initial outbreak in Bundibugyo. The Rwenzori area is virus free, and no Compassion children or families have contracted the virus.
December 10, 2007 - Compassion Uganda is responding to an outbreak of Ebola virus in western Uganda. Its response follows the National Ebola Task Force guidelines issued by the Uganda Ministry of Health. All Compassion activities in the Rwenzori area have been suspended until the outbreak is under control.
Compassion Uganda is gathering information about the affected child development centers and will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.
