UPDATE: August 25, 2009 - The Compassion Uganda Office reports that all the registered children and one caregiver who had been admitted to a hospital after being diagnosed with cholera have been discharged.
The children and caregiver, who attend UG-150 and UG-528, were hospitalized following the outbreak of cholera in the Busia district in eastern Uganda.
The two affected child development centers had suspended activities after it became known that some registered children had contracted the disease.
The church center leaders received financial aid, which they used to buy cleaning materials for their facilities and new water containers. They also used some of the money to support the children and their families who had been affected by the illness.
Please pray for those children and families who have been affected by this outbreak. Pray specifically for God's hand of healing on those infected and for those who lost loved ones. Pray also for wisdom for the staff as they address the needs.
Compassion Uganda will keep us updated as more information is available.
Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.
