A 5.0-magnitude earthquake shook the Western Province of Rwanda on Sunday. All six Compassion child development centers in the province felt the 15-second tremor, and families in the area have been told to sleep outside due to the risk of an aftershock. Center activities are continuing uninterrupted at this time, and no Compassion-assisted children or their family members have been injured.
Compassion Rwanda is currently assessing the damage to the homes of children in the region and will provide further information regarding individual effects as more information becomes available.
Please pray for God's continuing protection of Compassion staff, families and children in Rwanda and for the country's other needs.
Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.
