Update: Hurricane Felix in Honduras

Hurricane Felix landed in Central America near the border of Honduras and Nicaragua and quickly lost strength as it moved deeper into Honduras. The storm brought heavy rain and strong winds, but no casualties among Compassion-assisted children or families.

Pacto con Dios Student Center (HO-318) was the only Compassion-assisted child development center affected. Forty children were taken to a nearby shelter and are now awaiting relocation to the church. The move was a preventive measure due to the threat of flooding. At this time, no major damage to children's homes has been reported. Compassion provided aid to the center in the form of mattresses, canned food, medicines and blankets.

Please continue to pray for the Compassion staff, children and families affected by Hurricane Felix.

Compassion Honduras will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.

Compassion International will notify you if your sponsored child has been affected.
