Although the rains are beginning to ease, devastation is evident across the island, much of which is attributable to deforestation and the soil's inability to absorb the continuous rain. Aid operations are being hampered by communication and infrastructure problems, but Compassion Haiti continues to provide essential relief to affected children and their families.
Compassion-assisted centers that have been closed due to the flooding are reopening later this week. No Compassion-assisted children or staff have been injured or are missing. However, in addition to the eight affected projects previously reported, Cabaret Child Development Center (HA-295) has families whose homes have been damaged.
Please pray for Compassion staff, families and children trying to rebuild after the rains.
Compassion Haiti will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.
Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.
