Advisory: Drownings in Bolivia

A boating accident in Bolivia has claimed the lives of a church project director and at least one Compassion-assisted child. Another Compassion-assisted child is missing.

The accident happened on Monday, June 25, when the director of the Development Center Chane in Santa Cruz took around 15 Compassion-assisted children for a boat ride on a nearby river. Staff workers with Compassion Bolivia are trying to get details of the accident and the reason for the trip. They say the survivors were taken to a local hospital where they received medical attention. The condition of at least seven children has been listed as non-serious.

Please pray that the families who lost their loved ones may feel God's peace amidst this tragedy.

Compassion Bolivia will provide an update as information becomes available.

Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.
