UPDATE: March 14, 2008 - Although homes, fences and crops were damaged when Cyclone Sidr made landfall in Bangladesh, all Compassion-assisted children, families and staff members are safe, healthy and accounted for. Some Compassion child development centers report uninhabitable conditions and funds are being provided for the reconstruction efforts.
Many child development centers were heavily damaged during the disaster, with kitchens, pastoral homes, buildings and staff housing either collapsing or being completely destroyed.
Please pray for the reconstruction efforts in Bangladesh.

Nov. 30, 2007 - The damage caused by Cyclone Sidr, one of the worst cyclones to hit Bangladesh in the last century, has been extensive. The damage includes destroyed houses and schools, uprooted trees, flattened crops, contaminated streams and ponds, dead livestock and disrupted transportation. The threat of diseases such as dysentery, fever and cholera still looms.
Compassion Bangladesh continues to provide assistance in the form of monetary funding, health care, clean water and rebuilding efforts.
