Yash lives with his father and his mother. He is responsible for buying or selling in the market , making beds and running errands. His father is sometimes employed as a laborer and his mother maintains the home. There are 2 children in the family.
Playing with marbles and playing ball games are Yash's favorite activities. In kindergarten his performance is average and he also regularly attends church activities.

Yash lives in the hillside community of Kodmal, home to approximately 2,600 residents. Typical houses are constructed of dirt floors, bamboo walls and tile roofs. The primary ethnic groups are Kukna and Bhill tribes and the most commonly spoken language is Kukna.
The regional diet consists of beans, chicken, bread, rice and dhal (dried legumes). Common health problems in this area include tuberculosis, malnutrition, skin infections and vector borne diseases. Most adults in Kodmal work as day laborers and earn the equivalent of $44 per month. This community needs safe drinking water, improved incomes and adult literacy programs.

The center staff will also provide adult literacy classes, income-generating programs and family counseling for the parent or guardians of Yash.
