Jayalakshmi makes her home with her father and her mother. Carrying water, gardening and caring for children are her household duties. Her father is sometimes employed as a laborer and her mother is sometimes employed as a laborer. There are 3 children in the family.
Singing, playing house and art are Jayalakshmi's favorite activities. In high school her performance is average and she also regularly attends church activities, Bible class and Vacation Bible School.

Jayalakshmi lives on the plains of Vedapatti, Achankulam and Chokalingapuram, home to approximately 3,900 residents. Typical houses are constructed of cement floors, mud walls and thatched or tile roofs.
The regional diet consists of maize, beans, plantains, rice and millet. Common health problems in this area include chicken pox, mumps, scabies, viral infections, anemia, ulcers and vitamin deficiencies. Most adults work as laborers and earn the equivalent of $110 per month. These communities have electricity and water but need proper sanitation and self-employment training.
Your sponsorship allows the staff of Andrews Child Development Center to provide Jayalakshmi with Bible studies, health screenings, nutritious food, leadership training, field trips, games and sports, community service opportunities, tuition, tutoring and career guidance workshops. The center staff will also provide meetings, health education and social issues education for the parents or guardians of Jayalakshmi.
