Philomene's life was on the brink of death - but thanks to Compassion Water of Life program her life was saved – forever!

Safe water is something we often take for granted. But in developing countries, it can mean the difference between life and death. Every day, thousands of children die of easily preventable water-related diseases such as cholera and typhoid.

13-year-old Philomene became very sick from cholera after drinking contaminated water. Philomene’s father rushed her to a Compassion project center, where she received re-hydration treatment before being taken to a nearby hospital. Watch Philomene’s story now.

Compassion understands that child sponsorship alone can’t transform villages. That’s why we have solutions, like Compassion Water of Life, that help build the skills and provide the tools needed to help a child and her village thrive both physically and spiritually.

Through Compassion Water of Life, we can provide water systems and hygiene training so children around the world like Philomene can survive and thrive. For just $79, our simple but powerful safe water system provides a child and her family with safe drinking water for life!

Today, Philomene is a smiling, healthy young girl thanks to generous friends like you and Compassion. “I am so glad to be alive. And I want to say thank you to Compassion. If it were not for them, I would be dead from cholera,” says Philomene.
